“The Dark Knight Rises,” released July 6, 2012, grossed $1,011,011,261 worldwide, making it the 12th highest-grossing film, and second highest-grossing film in 2012. As the third movie in a trilogy starring Christian Bale, “The Dark Knight Rises” follows Bruce Wayne, better known as Batman, eight years after “The Dark Knight.” Bale made an estimated $15,000,000 on the film. The film also stars Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, and features returning cast members from “The Dark Knight.” Despite an opening night shooting, the film was a box-office hit.
