Most memorable moments of the MTV Movie Awards 2015

This year’s MTV Movie Awards consisted of heartfelt moments, sly and sarcastic humor, and Channing Tatum attempting to “twerk.” The show aired on April 12, 2015 at 5:00 PT and 8:00 EST at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California with comedienne Amy Schumer as host.

The MTV Movie Awards opened with a humorous monologue from Schumer poking fun at various nominated celebrities and movies.

Actress Shailene Woodley won big at the awards show, winning the special “MTV Trailblazer” award. Her portrayal of Hazel Grace Lancaster in the esteemed movie “The Fault In Our Stars” also won her Best Female Performance and Best Kiss for her onscreen kiss with costar Ansel Elgort.

“Shailene Woodley is such a talented and great actress. I love so many movies that she is in like ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. She definitely deserves the awards she won,” said freshman Lauren Newman.

During her speech for Best Female Performance, she wholeheartedly thanked John Green, the author of the best-selling novel. Her acceptance speech was so beautiful, it made Green shed some tears.

“There’s not one single demographic that won’t be affected by the wisdom and the compassion and the beauty that he laces into every single thing that he does with his life,” said Woodley regarding Green.

As expected, Movie Of The Year was awarded to “The Fault In Our Stars”. Green made a heartfelt speech, referenceing Esther Earl, a girl who inspired him to write the novel the movie was based upon.

“Esther taught me that a short life can also be a good life, and she taught me that people who are living with disability are not defined by those disabilities. And that the lives of people who are living with illness or with disability are just as interesting and complicated and beautiful…Esther, I love you, I miss you, this is for you,” said Green in his speech.

Another special MTV award was given to actor Robert Downey Jr. He won the highly honored MTV generation award, which is given to someone who has consistently engaged the MTV audience during the long course of his or her career. It was awarded by his fellow superhero costars Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner.

To conclude his speech, he advised the audience to “Dream big, work hard, keep your nose clean, be of service, and yes, because you can — define your generation.”

An exclusive clip for the new Avengers movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was broadcasted after he accepted his award.

The last special MTV award, Comedic Genius, was awarded to comedian Kevin Hart. From movies to television sitcoms to stand-up specials and award show performances, Hart’s daring comedic style has captivated the audiences he’s performed for, making him this year’s obvious choice for Comedic Genius.

“I wanna thank my fianćee for being my rock right now,” Hart told the audience. “I wanna thank my ex-wife for giving me these two kids who are my best friends right now; Heaven for being the most amazing daughter, Hendrix for being the most amazing son. My kids, I’m doing all this for them. I’m trying to leave a legacy for them. Last but not least my fans – this is for y’all, I love y’all.”

Other winners of various awards given throughout the night include Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper,  Jennifer Lopez, Meryl Streep, Zac Efron, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Overall this year’s MTV Movie Awards had its few good, memorable moments that were entertaining and interesting.
