The last movie of the Avengers series, Avengers: Endgame, was released on April 26 in theaters worldwide. In just one weekend, the movie has made about $1.2 billion (and counting). Not only has it been very successful worldwide, it’s also broken countless records because of its grand debut. These records include the biggest opening weekend internationally and in the United States, highest-grossing three day start in China, biggest opening day in North America, and more.
So, what happens in Endgame? The final movie of the Avengers series is three hours long, tying loose ends in the Marvel Universe. The latest film Avengers: Infinity War focused on the Avengers’ mission to stop Thanos. In the new film, the characters reunite to finish what they started and save the world. Because of the buildup to the movie, and the previous jaw-dropping film, people all over the world couldn’t wait to experience the end of an era. To some, the film was fulfilling and a great way to end the series. For others, the supposed plot holes, fates of characters, and other factors led to an unsatisfying end.
A student at MTHS, Hiba Siddiqui talks about Endgame by saying “I was expecting more, everyone was expecting more. The expectations of the movie were too high, Marvel could have never fulfilled them. Some scenes in the movie, however, gave me the feels when watching my heroes fight one last time.”
Nivriti Agaram, another student, differs by stating “I think the ending was really good. All of the scenes were calm or cliffhangers, which was a good way to end the series. It was feel good ending that was heartwarming.”
Surabhi Ashok said “I think that the ending brought the whole universe full circle. It was very satisfying but also sad and bittersweet.”
In the end, the record-breaking movie Avengers: Endgame was an unforgettable film that has already left a mark on millions of people. It will go down in history for holding multiple, astonishing records, and for being the end of an era.
