This article is for people who need help with studying. This article will involve methods of studying, and time management skills.
1) Blurting
Blurting is a skill one uses to confirm if one memorized the information. My personal favorite subjects to use this method on include HISTORY & SCIENCE.
To start, a person will get a blank piece of paper, and write down everything they memorized for the test WITHOUT looking at their notes. After that, they will get a DIFFERENT colored pen, and look at their notes. Anything they did not write down, or forgot to write, will be in that different colored pen. Afterwards, that person will repeat that process for 30 minutes a day. Do not repeat the process instantly. This method helps with memorization.
2) Flashcards/Quizlet
Flashcards and Quizlet is an online flashcard tool that can help with vocab memoization, and normal memorization. If a person wants to memorize time periods, or chronological order notes, a recommendation would be using the first method, blurting. My favorite subject to use this method is in SCIENCE, WORLD LANGUAGE, ELA (VOCABULARY), and HISTORY.
To begin, one side has the term, and the other side has the answer. A person will have all of the flashcards on the term side, and say out loud the answer. Then, that person will check the answer. If it is correct, put it in one pile, and if it is wrong, put it in another pile. DO NOT ONLY DO THIS METHOD. UNDERSTAND YOUR TOPIC!!
3) Pomodoro
This method helps with time management, and is good for all subjects.
A person will put a timer on for 25 minutes, and as soon as it rings, they put a timer on for 5 minutes. For the 25 minutes they CAN NOT touch their phone or anything distracting, and instead are forced to plain study. During the 5 minutes they take a break, they can do what they like. Repeat the process until they are done with all the material.
4) My Version of The Pomodoro Method
My version is different from the original Pomodoro for I have it spread out with longer breaks, making you motivated to take these breaks. My method involves 25 minutes of studying, then a 5 minute break. 25 minutes of studying, then a 10 minute break. 25 minutes of studying, then a 5 minute break. 25 minutes of studying, then a 30 minute break. 25 minutes of studying, then a 5 minute break. 25 minutes of studying, then a 10 minute break, 25 minutes of studying, then a 5 minute break, and 25 minutes of studying, then a 60 minute break. Then repeat the process.
5) Chat GPT
DO NOT CHEAT WITH CHAT GPT! It is useful as a study method, as one can take a screenshot of their notes, and then ask Chat GPT for questions. This works really well for all subjects except math type courses. I would recommend other types of studying.
6) “Teach it to Five Year Olds”
Act like you are teaching whatever you are learning to a five year old. This works the best in my opinion in Biology and ELA analyzation.
7) Worksheets
This helps with math topics, studying for tests, and getting practice in.
Good Luck Studying!!
