Lively and Reynolds tie the knot

by ANDREA FRENCH Section Editor

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds got married at the Boone Plantation in South Carolina on Sunday, September 9. These two co-stars in “The Green Lantern” dated for a year, and they could not be more perfect for each other.

Everyone who attended this celebration said it was full of charm and was “meant to feel like home”. Most fans know of the Boone Hall Plantation because it is where parts of “The Notebook” were filmed down in South Carolina.

“I know Blake Lively from ‘Gossip Girl’, and I have loved her forever! I was so excited to hear that her and Ryan got married. Everything that I have heard about the wedding sounds whimsical,” says sophomore Casey Schieda.

According to People magazine, on the set of the “Green Lantern”, Lively won over Reynolds’ affection by baking him cupcakes. Therefore, the desserts for their wedding were nothing but perfection.

The wedding cake was designed by Virginia baker Maggie Austin. The cake was a tiered cream-colored cake with peach accents. Also, the newlyweds served mini chocolate bundt cakes filled with chocolate ganache and some popsicles from local vender, King of Pops. To top it all off, they had s’mores at the end of the night.

There has been a lot of talk about the dress that Lively wore, but there have been no pictures because they hired a private photographer for the wedding. We do know that her dress was designed by Marchesa.

People magazine refers to her dress as “a hand-draped silk tulle bodice adorned with crystal and rose gold embroidery.” Lively’s bridesmaids also wore custom Marchesa dresses, co-designed by Harvey Weinstein’s wife, Georgina Chapman. All of the women also wore custom Christian Louboutin heels. The wedding ring was a flawless light pink oval diamond.

“Everything that I have heard about their wedding sounds flawless. I wish there were more pictures of this beautiful celebration,” says sophomore Taylor Zeni.

One other big surprise Lively and Reynolds managed to pull off was having Florence Welch, from Florence and the Machine, perform a few songs such as “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” at their reception. This was the kickoff to their carnival themed cocktail hour.

The new couple recently bought home in Bedford N.Y. earlier this year.

Many people are also commenting on the sentimental vows that were exchanged at their very personal ceremony. Sources say that Lively promised to always “adore” him, and he promised to always “treasure” her in return. People magazine says that Lively started to “well up, and so did most of the guests.” Another personal touch they added was, instead of flowers down the aisle, they had it lined with pine needles.

“I think Blake Lively is so pretty, and Ryan Reynolds is really good looking. They make such a cute couple, and I can’t wait to see pictures from this beautiful wedding,” says sophomore Samantha Fasbach.
