Echosmith releases new single “Over My Head”

Alt-pop sibling trio Echosmith released their new single “Over My Head” on March 16, 2018, which is their latest release since their debut album “Talking Dreams” back in 2013.

The band consists of siblings Sydney (vocals and keyboard), Noah (vocals and bass), and Graham Sierota (drums).

The new release was a success, bringing the same musical vibes that the familiar triple-platinum hit “Cool Kids” had back in 2013, continuing to show “cool kid” vibes in the new song.

Lead singer Sydney says, “This song was written out of pure frustration with another person who couldn’t make up his mind. That indecision was affecting us, so the message is, ‘Good luck finding yourself. Goodbye. I have to move on with my life regardless of your opinion.’ It’s a bit darker for us, but I think a lot of people can relate to that.”

“Over My Head” can be found on the “Inside a Dream” EP, which has immediately gained critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard, MTV, Vulture, and Subtream Magazine. Additionally, Echosmith received rave reviews from ELLE, Rolling Stone, and Teen Vogue. It is a catchy song that teenagers can easily sing along with and have stuck in their heads for hours.

Freshman Cassidy Hatter said, “I remember listening to ‘Cool Kids’ on repeat. Their new song is just as addicting if not more. … It had some meaning I could relate to, unlike other music I listen to. It’s stuck in my head now.”

The song is composed with a synth-driven chorus, an addicting melody, and strong drum beats that fans will continue to enjoy in the full album that is set to release this coming summer.

Freshman Sanjana Rachakada said, “In the beginning of the song, she talks about static on a tv, which relates to losing connection. The mood of the song is cool, but it makes me think of it as a sad song about losing something even though you regretted it.”

The band has positively developed as a sibling trio with a clear and mature sound. The inspiration included throughout “Inside a Dream” encourages fans to follow their dreams just as Echosmith did in their album and career.

Since forming in 2009, the sibling trio performed at thousands of sold-out shows across the U.S. and Europe. They have even played on talk host shows such as “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “The Today Show,” “Conan,” “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” and more.

Echosmith will be touring North America with The Score and Jena Rose beginning on April 4, 2018. The coming album they will be performing, which features “Over My Head,” is definitely going to be a hit.

Have you heard of the trio Echosmith? What do you think of “Over My Head”?
