ABC Family’s hit TV series “Pretty Little Liars” (PLL returns to TV screens on June 10 with season five as “A” continues to boggle our minds.
Last season on PLL, lies and unknown information were revealed to the cast consisting of Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale), Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson), Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell), and Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario).
Their best friend, Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pietrese), went missing for a year before her body was found and she was proclaimed dead. However, in season four of PLL, it was discovered that Alison is in fact alive and hiding from “A”, a mystery character who has been torturing and threatening the girls since Alison was said to be dead. “A” had been torturing Alison when she was alive and was the cause of her disappearance.
Finally, the girls get in contact with Alison and try to figure out the reasoning behind her disappearance and what happened on that strange night. According to the police, Alison must have been hit in the head with a shovel and buried alive by someone, though no one is sure of the culprit.
On the night of the disappearance two years ago, Alison and her friends had a sleepover planned in Hastings’ barn in her backyard. Alison wanted to discover who had been threatening her and put an end to it that night. She secretly gave all her friends sleeping medication so they would not try looking for her.
Earlier that day, Alison hid out in Ian’s (Hastings’ sister’s fiancée and Alison’s secret lover) hotel room and overheard Ian and Melissa (Hastings’ sister) arguing. Alison tried to copy secret videos Ian had on his computer of the girls and their secrets, Jenna trying to seduce her stepbrother, Toby, and other secrets that could be used as blackmail against people in town.
Alison, thinking Jenna was “A” since Jenna hates Alison for causing her blindness, decides to go and threaten Jenna with evidence of the videos of her and Toby. She then receives another text from “A”, which proved that Jenna is not “A”. This all leads to Alison wanting to expose “A” the night of the sleepover.
After her friends pass out from the medication, Alison leaves the barn to meet with Toby, who thanks her from freeing him from Jenna’s blackmail.
Ezra (Ian Harding), who at the time was another one of Alison’s lover, confronted Alison about her lying about her age, considering she is underage and in high school and he is close to graduating from college. She assumes he is not “A” and leaves to meet Ian somewhere.
When meeting Ian, she threatens him with the videos from his computer, which scares him away.
Alison then returns to the barn to find Spencer angry and waiting. During their confrontation, Spencer drops pills, which are discovered by Alison to be amphetamines and are the reason why the sleeping pills did not work for her. Spencer begs Alison to not say anything and Alison agrees and says “It’ll be our secret,” and Spencer heads back to the barn.
She then meets with Byron (Chad Lowe), Aria’s father, whom Alison had proof of him having an affair with another woman, and threatened him with the videos.
Upon returning home, Alison in disappointment from still not discovering who “A” was, she saw her angry mother in the window, but was then hit in the head with a shovel by an unknown character.
Now, Alison still does not know who hit her and she said her mother buried her alive, thinking Alison was dead; however, Alison did not have the strength at the time to tell her she was alive.
On season five of PLL, the anxious viewers will hopefully learn who the vicious “A” is and get to the bottom of the mystery of Alison DiLaurentis.
