In mid-November, for their album “Four”‘s release, pop sensation One Direction gave fans a big treat: they flew fans in from all over the world to Orlando, Florida (Universal Studios, to be exact) and created memories to last a lifetime. On December 23, the world will be able to see a few of these special moments!
It seems like One Direction is on top of the world right now; their new tour – the “On the Road Again Tour” – is selling out stadiums worldwide. Their latest album is still getting great feedback, and their new single “Where Do Broken Hearts Go,” which is not yet a single in America, is climbing its way up the United Kingdom sales charts. The band was even included in BandAid420’s newest song cover of “They Don’t Know It’s Christmas.”
To add to the excitement, NBC is having a huge One Direction special. On December 20, the band was involved in hosting Saturday Night Live. On December 23, the band is going to be on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” and at 8 pm, the band’s special will be airing.
“I cannot wait to see One Direction on Jimmy Fallon! Putting Jimmy Fallon with the band is going to be so fun to watch,” said senior Kate Broskie.
What is going to happen throughout the special? Loads of fun things! Behind-the-scene footage has been recorded for a while in preparation for this major television event. There are clips of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne on their tour, clips of the boys recording their album, and more.
We always wonder what happens behind the scenes – what do One Direction do when they are not on stage? Well, by watching this special, we are all going to find out.
When One Direction visited Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, the band got to go on rides with one another and even had the opportunity to surprise fans on rides. Tomlinson, decked out in Harry Potter gear, will surprise one of his biggest fans at the Harry Potter ride.
Malik was not feeling too well during the Universal Studio invasion, so we might not see much of him on the rides, but he does show up for the performance (thankfully!).
Another exciting portion of this special is going to be hearing the band perform some of their hit songs, as well as some of the newest songs off of their album, including songs like “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Best Song Ever,” “Little Things,” and “Girl Almighty.”
“I think it is great that One Direction is doing this because some fans have never had the chance to see the band live, and by watching this special, fans will have the chance to hear what the band sounds like in person and see how into it each member gets. This is an opportunity that not many artists get a chance to do, so I am extremely excited for Tuesday, December 23! It is ‘One Direction”s chance to shine,” said senior Hiral Patel.
